Our summer club handicap race will take place this year (2024) on Tuesday 9th July, starting and finishing close to the grass triangle at Burley Woodhead.
2024 Race Briefing and Handicap times are here
If you’ve not done the race before, this is a race where you all start with a handicap time, with the steadiest setting off first and the fastest last. The winner is the first to cross the line. There will be a number of other prizes too.
In order for me to calculate the handicaps, I (Richard) need an accurate time to base it on. The easiest and best way is to give me a time (email me on training@nlfr.co.uk please) from a recent parkrun – i.e. you need to run a parkrun before July 9th! I’ll also accept times from other races of a measured distance (e.g. if you’ve done a 5/10km road race or marathon or similar). I may also accept Jack Bloor race times – but only if enough people also do a parkrun for me to calibrate the times accurately.
If you don’t send me a time, you’re still welcome to run, but be prepared to get a terrible handicap…. so take the chance to get to a parkrun in before 9 July!
If you don’t fancy running or are injured, then please still do come along – I need about 5/6 people to help out, but I’d encourage as many to run as possible! Will Josh and Emma retain their titles? Can Jenny and Harry go any faster? Will Tim sandbag his submitted time again to be the closest to predicted time? These will all be discovered!
